Sodium Bicarbonate

Properties: Sodium bicarbonate is a white fine crystal, and its solubility in water is less than that of sodium carbonate. Sodium bicarbonate is an industrial chemical with low toxicity. The solid begins to decompose gradually above 50 ºC to form sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide and water, and completely decomposes at 440 ºC. Sodium bicarbonate is an acid salt formed after neutralization of strong base and weak acid. It is weakly alkaline when dissolved in water. This property makes it a bulking agent in the process of food production. Sodium bicarbonate will remain after its action, and excessive use will make the finished product have alkaline taste.
